Great chamber music,

ABOUT THE GUSTAV HOLST ENSEMBLE

Founded in 2021 by violist and Artistic Director Rachael Sheehy, the Gustav Holst Ensemble was established with a simple vision: to bring exceptional chamber music to audiences in Chiswick and West London.

Named after the composer Gustav Holst, the ensemble reflects a belief that great music should be an enriching part of everyday life. Its thoughtfully curated programmes bring together outstanding professional musicians to perform some of the greatest works in the chamber music repertoire in intimate local venues.

Since its inception, the Ensemble has welcomed more than 2,100 audience members to performances ranging from Mozart and Beethoven to Schubert, Brahms and Fauré.

All concerts are free to attend, making live chamber music accessible to everyone.

Audience donations help make these performances possible.

MEET THE ARTISTIC DIRECTOR

Violist Rachael Sheehy is the founder and Artistic Director of the Gustav Holst Ensemble.

A Gustav Holst Memorial Scholar at St Paul’s Girls’ School, she studied at the Royal College of Music and in Vienna with Thomas Kakuska of the Alban Berg Quartet. After a career spanning both music and law, she returned to music full-time and founded the Ensemble in 2021.

As Artistic Director, she curates each programme and brings together outstanding musicians to create performances combining the highest musical standards with an informal, welcoming atmosphere.
